CHICOA’S TEAM OF EXPERTS ARE BUILDING IN MOZAMBIQUE A VERTICALLY INTEGRATED, EFFICIENT AQUACULTURE BUSINESS TO MEET LOCAL AND REGIONAL DEMAND FOR QUALITY FISH. ONCE ESTABLISHED WE WILL ALSO PROVIDE THE INPUTS TO SPARK THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE AQUACULTURE INDUSTRY. Vertical integration Being a first mover in Mozambique, vertical integration is necessary. This investment will manage the fluctuations in quality and cost of feed and fry. Chicoa is already breeding pedigree farmed tilapia. Further vertical integration, which will include a feed mill and a processing plant, will make Chicoa more independent. Efficient Vertical integration gives Chicoa the necessary control to combine the natural advantages of our location on the Cahora Bassa lake with locally grown raw ingredients and a large potential regional market. The expertise of our team can translate these advantages into productivities unrivaled in Africa. Each fish will consume less feed, grow faster and produce less waste. The result: greater profit with less environmental impact. Industry catalyst Chicoa will become an industry catalyst by solving key challenges for aquaculture in Africa, such as the supply of high quality fingerlings, feed and expertise. This will provide multiple new revenue streams and create a positive impact on the community in the region. Marine conservation Chicoa is committed to researching and implementing commercially viable feed alternatives to reduce the inclusion of marine-based ingredients in our aquaculture feed. Being vertically integrated with access to ingredients enabled by our partner Aqua-Spark puts us in a unique position to fulfill this.
