https://www.edfi.eu/facility/electrifi/ The Electrification Financing Initiative (ElectriFI) is a blending facility funded by the European Union and managed by the EDFI Management Company. ElectriFI aims to unlock, accelerate and leverage private sector investment to increase or improve access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy in developing countries. ElectriFI supports electrification investments that will lead to new and improved connections, with a focus on addressing the needs of populations living principally in rural, underserved areas as well as areas affected by unreliable power supply. In addition, ElectriFI seeks to encourage the adoption of renewable energy, with an emphasis on decentralized energy solutions. The initiative provides catalytic risk capital and advisory services, primarily at the early project stage or in highly additional situations where extra financing is required to reach financial close. Approximately 15% of the initial funding is allocated to finance a technical assistance unit, which will provide support to promoters over a period of up to 10 years. The Electrification Financing Initiative (ElectriFI) is a EUR 215 million impact investment facility funded by the European Union and managed by European Development Finance Institutions, committed to increase access to clean energy in developing countries.
