IFU – Investment Fund for Developing Countries provides risk capital and advice to companies wanting to do business in Africa, Asia, Latin America and parts of Europe. IFU is a self-governing state fund with the purpose of promoting economic and social development in developing countries and supporting the global goals. Investments are made on commercial terms in the form of share capital and loans to project companies. IFU has made 1,300 investments in more than 100 developing countries. Total investment is close to EUR 23 billion. Annually IFU makes around 25 -30 investments and has on average an active portfolio of 200 investments. IFU’s head office is located in Copenhagen supplemented by regional offices in Asia, Africa, Latin America and Central and Eastern Europe. IFU operates as fund manger for public-private partnerships like the Danish SDG Investment Fund, which is to invest in commercial viable projects supporting the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The SDG Fund is established in cooperation with the Danish State and a number of the largest Danish Pension Funds. IFU is also fund manager for The Danish Climate Investment Fund (DCIF), The Danish Agribusiness Fund (DAF), The Arab Investment Fund (AIF) and IFU Investment Partners (IIP).
